When developing curriculum and assessment materials, thoughtful and careful planning is critical.
Schools spend a great deal of time and resources trying to achieve student learning. When we claim that we will graduate students with qualities like “critical thinking” or “scientific literacy,” we need deliberate goals, strategies, and gathered evidence to support such claims. This can only occur with successful planning.
DGC consultants are committed to working with clients to create realistic, practical, and effective plans to meet their educational goals.
To accomplish this, we take all the elements of a successful plan into consideration:
- We begin by taking the time to listen. We sit with clients to discuss their goals and understand their larger purposes and objectives. We learn not only what the client intends to accomplish, but also which actions and strategies are likely to produce the best results.
- We make recommendations about the methods used to achieve these goals. This includes outlining techniques used and identifying target groups.
- We propose realistic, time-tested timeline projections and provide support for development, administration and reporting.
- We assist with provisions for administering the plan including:
– carrying out the plan
– conducting and analyzing data
– summarizing/reporting results. - When needed, we help develop the frameworks to be used for curricula and/or assessment development.
In times of tight resources and streamlined budgets, careful planning is more important than ever.
Our experience can play a critical role in helping clients improve outcomes and provide evidence of student learning.
